I needed a ramp for a ventilator and oxygen dependent daughter. This company has been very professional and courteous. The job they have done is beautiful and has actually improved the look of our home. I highly recommend this company for any projects you are having done. Thank you, Mr. Schumaker for a wonderful job!!!

We used David W. Schumaker of Schumaker Construction to construct a porch in front of our house. He also did some wall repair and molding repair on our fireplace.
They didn't do the fireplace, but there was some damage on it from water and they fixed the wall around it and they fixed the mantle and so forth. They are very good in woodworking and remodeling. A lot of interior work is what they like to do, new bathrooms, new kitchens, and stuffs like that. They do high quality work. They guarantee their work and they come back if it's not right. Our experience was very good. They were very trustworthy and reliable. We've had excellent results. We have a request for them to come back for another work.

Schumaker Construction leveled the concrete area where my A/C sits. Very responsive, did great work. I will never be able to say enough good things about them.

We contacted them to correct and finish a difficult entry door installation that I had started.
One word: Awesome! They were prompt in showing up, very professional, and pleasant to work with. They really went out of their way to explain what they were going to do, and were able to complete the work quickly. This was a tricky installation in an old house, and they really came to my rescue! I was very happy with their work, and my wife was impressed at how clean they left the work area. I cannot say enough good things about them. I will definitely use them in the future.

David Schumaker designed and built a four car garage for us with a semi-vault second floor which accommodated the township 20 ft. height restriction. Clever excavation kept the structure from exceeding the height of our ranch house; the final appearance matches the original home perfectly. The original garage roof was extended to join the new garage roof perfectly and a 125 sq. ft. 'breezeway' gave us room for our grill, sink and a nice mudroom. The two overhead 'carriage doors' are framed in brick with arches and keystones to match the original house. Siding removed from the original garage, and pieces saved from the original house were used in the front and to finish the breezeway. The sides and back are vertical vinyl in a darker shade which compliments the original house. Aluminum gutters, downspout and fascia were replaced on the original house. Dave also designed and built a 2,300 sq. ft. barn with a wood plank first floor to hold our tractor, backhoe and other lawn and garden tools. The second floor has a 128 sq. ft. cedar closet and rooms for storing outdoor Christmas displays, old toys, antique Christmas decorations, etc. The 10:12 pitch roof was constructed using manufactured trussed. Second floor walls are clay colored board and batten vinyl. The first floor is stone. Everything else is covered with aluminum; no maintenance. The two 'barn doors' are beautiful varnished cedar and there is a north facing overhang to keep the weather out when the doors are opened. The three man doors have small double-hung windows for additional light and ventilation.
We contacted the builder thru a lifelong friend. David had built a garage to replace a too small garage for them with a master BR on the 2nd floor. I made a Photoshop 'picture' of both projects and drew sketches of the 2 floors with dimensions and materials that we wanted used. David met with us once, then returned the next week with a materials list, architectural drawings and gave us contract price. Both projects were completed within our budget (We made no changes after contract was signed.)Excavation was done by the builder. I was amazed at how carefully he measured the final location of the structure, trench and footers. The result is the foundations are solid and there is no cracking in the garage floor (common occurrence). I installed drywall in both buildings and the walls; ceilings and floors are all square. Once the foundations were built framing went extremely fast. We left 1 day & returned home to find the 1st floor completed; no sheathing, but it's pretty impressive to see 3 men complete the walls of a large structure like our barn or garage in 1 day. Both structures were built using manufactured beams for floor joists. Those wooden 'I beams' save money and are stronger than a comparable solid wood joist. Dave is a master builder when it comes to framing; the semi-vault ceiling in the second floor of the garage attests to that. Equally impressive is the use of manufactured beams. We have a garage and barn with no columns to bash a car door into, or prevent me from backing an implement off to the side of the tractor parking spot. The garage has ordinary three-tab white shingles to match the house. The barn has beautiful five-tab slate-like shingles. We specified 5/8 in. sheathing for the roofs although half inch is typically used for projects in our price range. Despite that Dave was able to build 2 structures for considerably less than we would have paid if we were able to get a builder competent to build advanced projects like we had in mind. The home builders I spoke to aren't interested in building barns or garages, and our projects were too advanced for remodelers that I spoke to. Gutters, fascia and siding were also completed very quickly & professional with all the right tools and a lifetime of experience. Dave brought samples for the garage & we choose the color and style that went with our original house. The barn had several color changes prior to completion but we knew the deadline for making selections so there was no costly delays. For example, the barn doors turned out so beautiful that I varnished them (I did all painting for both projects with Dave's guidance) instead of painting the barn red as planned. We could not be more pleased with both projects. They were built exactly as we had envisioned, at a price that we could afford with the best materials we could find. We get compliments, sometimes from complete strangers. Even the township building inspector & county assessor were impressed with our projects.
